Vickie Dennis Master Director Houston Horizon Chorus Vickie is a dynamic and highly talented musical leader who uses her unique and positive style of teaching, coaching, and managing skills toward the enhancement of the Barbershop style of music. Vickie received her Bachelors of Music Degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas in 1995. She taught junior high choir for many years but now devotes her teaching and directing skills to barbershop ensembles. Vickie has been a member of Sweet Adelines since 1975 and has been actively involved in the organization. She is the Great Gulf Coast Region 10 Education Coordinator. In November 2002, Vickie earned the title of Master Director. But she is quick to add that she could not have become a Master Director without the “Master Singers” in Houston Horizon! For years she has coached quartets and choruses in both Sweet Adelines and the Barbershop Harmony Society. Vickie loves singing in a quartet. She sang bass with the International finalist quartet, SoundTrax, and is currently singing lead with Oasis, Region 10’s Quartet Champions for the past two years. In addition to being a business consultant focused on employee development, a quartet member, and the director of Houston Horizon and the Houston Tidelanders of the Barbershop Harmony Society, Vickie is the wife of Larry, a member of the Tidelanders, and the proud grandmother of Hunter and Hali Bayless. Vickie’s rehearsals are fun, fast paced, and full of learning! We are thrilled to have Vickie as our director!
