Joining Houston Horizon Chorus: The Audition Process!
You do not need to have any singing experience to join Houston Horizon Chorus, however, we do have an audition process in place to ensure that members can maintain their part while singing in harmony. Rest assured, we provide ample support throughout this journey.
Prospective Members
Once you decide to embark on the audition process, you will sing a few scales with our director or a member of the music team. We will match you to a voice part that aligns with your range and sound. Additionally, you will be paired with a buddy in the same section who can answer your questions and offer assistance. You'll receive sheet music and learning tracks for your first song.
When you're ready (typically within 2-4 weeks), you will perform for the director in a quartet setting. We're looking for accurate music learning (memorization), a sense of rhythm, and the ability to hold your part.
New Members
In your first few months as a new member, we will organize sessions with key musical and management leaders to help you put names to faces, and set you up for success! You will have the opportunity to connect with other members and gain access to our current repertoire of music to begin learning gradually.
